While going to high school in Los Angeles, Galen Gering tagged along with a friend to a hair salon, where he was asked to model for their ad. The spontaneous gig spearheaded Gering's modeling career. He headed to New York and completed his high school courses via mail. Before he knew it, he was passing on attending UCLA in order to take a modeling job in Africa. This gig got the ball rolling on several overseas jobs. Gering walked the runaway for such top designers as Armani and Valentino. Eventually, Gering returned to the Big Apple and attended NYU for two years. He then headed to South Florida to finish up his college days at University of Miami, where he majored in English and film. The day of graduation, Gering flew to L.A. to play PASSIONS's Luis.

Galen and his actress girlfriend, Jenna (then-Hudlett), rang in 2000 by eloping in Las Vegas. After keeping their nups a secret, they made the announcement at a "wedding" in April, which shocked friends, family and the media.

In 2004, Gering launched www.ReelAccess.com, a site that contains an extensive database of talent demo reels.
