THE 411

Elizabeth Keifer is one of five children. She began performing at a very young age and eventually followed in the theatrical footsteps of her older sister, Mary, by auditioning for every school play. Keifer attended UCLA as a voice major and then studied acting at the Academy of Stage and Cinema Arts — a move her parents weren't initially thrilled about. She landed her first daytime role as a teen on YOUNG AND RESTLESS while still attending classes. The gig led to other roles on ONE LIFE TO LIFE, GENERAL HOSPITAL (as frumpy Sister Mary Camellia McKay) and on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. She also had several guest spots on numerous '80s TV shows.

After divorcing her first husband and the tragic death of her father, Keifer left acting for several years. Convinced she couldn't land another role, the actress was in the process of filing for bankruptcy when she reluctantly auditioned for the role of Blake on GUIDING LIGHT (the soap of which she's been a lifelong fan) in 1992 to replace fan fave Sherry Stringer. Luckily, she got the part and has been in the cast ever since. Keifer has been a recurring player on the soap since 2003. Her former co-star, Jerry verDorn (ex-Ross, GL; Clint, OLTL), remains one of her closest friends.
